Fold-Down Seat Package Is Popular Dart Option

DETROIT -- The fold-down rear seat package in the 1973 Dodge Dart automobiles has proven a popular option since being introduced at the beginning of the model year.

Dart buyers are ordering the package on 38 percent of all two-door coupes, according to Robert D. Loomis, Dodge general sales manager.

The fold-down rear seat feature allows economy-wagon-like storage space of up to 6-1/2 feet in length through the trunk opening to the rear of the front seat. This is similar to many "hatchback" small cars, however, the fact that the rear security panel can be raised, closing off the trunk area from view and access, provides the owner with the added advantage of more secure storage space. That is, whatever is stored in the trunk cannot be seen by passers-by as it might be through the glass in hatchbacks.

About 10 percent of Dart Sport Coupes are being equipped with the "Convertriple" package, which includes the fold-down rear seat package and the manually-operated sliding sunroof.

This type of sunroof option, which was introduced new for Dart Sport at the beginning of the 1973 model year, is being installed in about 15 percent of the 2-door coupes.
