Even though the focus of the Dodge Dart Page is the 1963-1976 A-body
Darts, I have added this page due to e-mail suggestions that
the Dodge Dart Page ought to welcome ALL Darts. The Dodge Dart was
slightly smaller than the full-size Dodges in 1960 and 1961, and came
in three trim levels: Seneca (base), Pioneer (intermediate), and
Phoenix (premium). Available engines during these two years included
the 225 slant six along with the 318, 361 and 383 cubic-inch V8's, and more than
400,000 Darts of various kinds were sold. (The De Soto Diplomat sold in the Netherlands and France during this time used the Dodge Dart body.) For 1962, the Dodge Dart
was downsized to become an intermediate car. The three-tier model
line-up was retained, but the Dart Seneca was replaced by the Dart,
the Dart Pioneer was replaced by the Dart 330, and the Dart Phoenix
was replaced by the Dart 440. Over 100,000 Darts were sold in 1962,
using similar engines to the larger 1960-1961 models.Due to my lack of knowledge and experience with these cars, this page is less developed than the other Dodge Dart Pages. I hope that those of you who know these cars will send me stories, pictures, and other information. Meanwhile, I recommend that you look at my collection of Chrysler press releases for more information on these cars.
Please note that some other sections of the Dodge Dart Page apply to the 1960-62 models, including the car classified, repair shop list, and the aforementioned collection of Dart-related press-releases.
