1979 Brazilian Dodge Charger R/T

Written by Alexandre Badolato

This car was produced by Chrysler Do Brasil, and it was based on the Dodge Dart. It has standard dual exhaust system, 318 engine and auto transmission. It also has two tone painting and opera windows. Only a few more than 100 were produced that year.

The front end was totally designed here in Brazil and assembled in fiber glass to reduce cost . It was the 'sport' alternative to that year's release, Dodge Magnum. I would like to see it in your 'International Darts' list . I guess it could be renamed to "Brazilian Darts" since I think Brazil was the only country to produce them, besides the USA, of course.

Here in Brazil, almost 93,000 Darts were produced in many models and options (Dart 2 dr, Dart 4 dr, Charger LS, Charger RT, Gran Coupe, Gran Sedan, SE, Magnum and Le Baron). Chrysler closed the doors in 1981 (had been sold to VW in 1979). The Mopar fans here may not be many, but surely are the more fanatics!!
